A planned unit development rezoning for Woodland Grove, a 51-acre project at 2475 U.S. 421, was continued Feb. 17 as the Zionsville Plan Commission intends to suggest edits to the plan. The scope of the project includes 50,000 square feet of commercial space, townhomes and single-family homes, along with a 5-acre nature area and walking trail. The Lebanon Community School Corporation recently introduced a campus master plan that includes an estimated $87 million in improvements on athletic facilities. Phyllis I. Smith, 83, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, in Lebanon, Indiana. She was born on July 29, 1942, to the late John A. Clingerman and Evelyn A. (Eames) Wells and stepfather, James Wells. On November 25, 1995, she married Harold V. Smith in Lebanon, and he preceded her in death. Phyllis worked in the cafeterias of the Lebanon and Paoli school systems. She enjoyed sewing and gardening, but above all, she treasured the time she spent with her beloved family. S

The wife of Indiana Congressman Jim Baird has died of injuries she suffered in a car crash on January 5th. Danise Baird died Sunday, and the couple was married for 59 years. The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a road closure that will impact County Road 400 W. near Lebanon in coordination with the ongoing State Road 32 realignment project. Beginning on or after Monday, March 9, crews will close County Road 400 W. between S.R. 32 and C.R. 25 N. to build a new roundabout and realign S.R. 32 with the new intersection. The City of Lebanon, the Boone County Economic Development Corporation (Boone EDC), and the State of Indiana announced  NewCold’s Phase 3 expansion at its Lebanon facility, marking a major milestone in the company’s continued growth and long-term commitment to Boone County. The new building will feature state-of-the-art automated storage and retrieval systems to transfer and store products for its food industry customers in sub-zero temperature conditions.

The Field is set for the 2026 Girls Central Indiana Holiday Basketball Classic presented by the Elwood and Frankton athletic departments. With 30 teams all throughout the state of Indiana this will be played on Dec 22nd, and 23rd. The field is headlined by the 2025 3A State Champion, and the 2026 4A state finalist Norwell Knights! Local teams include Clinton Prairie and Lebanon.

Beginning on or after Wednesday, March 4, flaggers will be utilized to control traffic on Perry Worth Road along I-65 between County Road 100 S. and Albert S. White Drive. In addition to flagging operations as needed, there will be crews working on the shoulders of I-65 and I-865 in Boone and Marion Counties. The purpose of this work is to install fiberoptic cables in the area. Construction is anticipated to last through May but is weather-dependent and subject to change.

Patsy Marlene Bland, 80, of Lebanon, Indiana passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis. She was born on October 24, 1945, in Lebanon, a daughter of the late Russell G. and Mabel L. (Red) Lewis. On July 31, 1965, she was united in marriage to Jack Sims Bland in Lebanon; he survives.
