Mr. Joseph A. Shoemaker, 92, of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Beech Grove police say 33-year-old Officer Brian Elliott has been shot and killed by a 47-year-old suspect, and another officer is hospitalized after being injured. Governor Mike Braun says Elliott gave his life in the line of duty, and he and his wife Maureen are "praying for his family, loved ones, and his brothers and sisters in uniform as they grieve this unimaginable loss." Kenneth Johnson is the suspect and he was arrested after shooting the two officers.

Karen Lynn Schipper, 79, of Nashville, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. At 4:45 pm. Wednesday, Frankfort Police Officers were dispatched to Walmart in regard to a Facebook live video taking place of a female decoy and a suspect who had thought he was communicating with a minor. Initially, two officers made contact with the pair when the fight was on with the suspect. Additional officers arrived shortly thereafter. The Zionsville Parks and Recreation  Director Mindy Murdock received the Great Lakes Region 4 Distinguished Interpretive Manager Award from the National Association for Interpretation (NAI). This regional honor recognizes one member who has demonstrated leadership and excellence in the field of heritage interpretation through programming, site management, facility development and staff leadership.

Over the next few days, you may see Zionsville Fire Department crews out on local waterways conducting ice rescue training. They are taking advantage of the current weather conditions to practice and refine the skills needed to respond safely and effectively to ice and cold-water emergencies. Training locations include Royal Run & Village Walk. This hands-on training helps ensure firefighters are prepared to protect the community when it matters most.

Details on a ten-billion-dollar data center campus in Lebanon being built for Meta have been unveiled by state officials. A groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday inside the Farmers Bank Fieldhouse, and Meta vice president of data centers Rachel Peterson says it will be their 27th center in the U.S. In all, 13 buildings will be constructed over the 15-hundred acre property. Roughly four-thousand construction jobs will be created.
