He was born November 19, 1954, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, a son of the late Willard and Rachel (Hubbard) Schmidt. Steven married Elaine Smith, and she preceded him in death in 1997. Indiana State Fair Queen Contest This Weekend
Miss Boone County Ella Shepherd will be competing this weekend at the Indiana State Fair Queen contest. Preliminaries will be Saturday, January 3rd at 5pm. Finals will be held Sunday, January 4th at 1pm. The pageant will be held in the Corteva Coliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. Boone County Gets Community Crossing Funds
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) awarded the Boone County Highway Department a Community Crossing Matching Grant for improvements of local roads and bridges. Boone County will use its’ share to repair two bridges. Structures over Smith and Dixon ditches will get the attention that they need. Both projects are anticipated to be completed during the 2026 construction season.
