Mrs. Virginia Evelyn Holmes, 99, formerly of Lebanon, Indiana, passed away early Tuesday morning, February 3, 2026, at Westside Village Nursing Center in Indianapolis. She was born in Lebanon on June 30, 1926, a daughter of the late Clark and Edith Mae (Williams) Perkins.
On June 9, 1948, she was united in marriage to Robert Devon Holmes in Lebanon. He preceded her in death on November 9, 1990.
A longtime resident of Lebanon, she was a 1944 graduate of Lebanon High School. She attained a certificate from Approved Beauty Cosmetology Academy in Indianapolis in 1945. Virginia owned and operated Barbara Lynn Beauty Shop in Lebanon from 1951–1997, retiring after 46 years as a hairdresser. From 1998 to 2000, she worked as a receptionist for The Caring Center.
Virginia held memberships with Central Christian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and National & State Hairdressers Association. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah S. (Robert) Hilton of Indianapolis, and grandson, Christopher (Monica) Hilton of Houston, Texas.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma E. Smiley and Florabelle “Pat” Bogan; brother, Marion E. Perkins; and two nieces, Pam Perkins and Cheryl Tully.
Memorial Services are planned for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial of Ashes will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
