Toila “Jeannine” Clanton, 77, of New Ross, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Ben Hur Health and Rehab in Crawfordsville, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 1, 1948, in Shelby County, a daughter of the late Earl and Stella (Alexander) McDonald.
Jeannine married Richard Clanton on December 12, 1965, and he preceded her in death on September 25, 2024.
Jeannine dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked in nursing homes, helped operate the family dairy farm, and was later employed at Walmart. She had a deep love for animals and enjoyed playing softball. Jeannine also found great joy in gardening and spending time outdoors.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Peggy (Eric) Mills and Kelly (Richard) Clayburn; her grandchildren, Darin, Derek, Trista, Tiffany, Corey, Anisha, Aubrey, Cale, Anthony, and Jesse; and 23 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jeannine was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandy Clanton; her son-in-law, Gary Browning; and her grandson, Travis Clanton.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
