Single-Vehicle Crash With Entrapment On I-865 Eastbound

On January 7, 2026, at approximately 4:21 PM, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the area of the 4-mile marker on I-865 eastbound for a report of a single-vehicle crash with entrapment.

Upon arrival, first responders located a vehicle off the roadway in an embankment beneath a bridge. The driver was identified as Anthony Memmer, 58 years old, from Lebanon, Indiana. The passenger was identified as Darren Puzzelo, 35 years old, from Lebanon, Indiana. Both individuals sustained serious bodily injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The Boone County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team (FACT) was requested to the scene and has assumed the investigation. No further information is being released at this time. Additional updates will be provided as they become available.
