Ronald Eugene Livengood, 81, of Lebanon, died Thursday, February 6 at the St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Ron was born on June 26, 1943 in Zionsville, a son of the late Charles and Deloris (Steele) Livengood. He graduated in 1961 from the Zionsville High School and soon after enlisted along with his twin brother in the United States Air Force. Ron proudly served his country as an aviation mechanic from 1961-1965. Ron married Kristi “Kris” L. Emmons; she preceded him in death on July 26, 2012. He worked for thirty-three years at Allison Transmission as a machine repairman until he retired in 1998.
Ron and Kris spent many wonderful years together at their lake house in Monticello in the summer and at the Americana Resort in Rock Ledge, Florida in the winter where they enjoyed golfing. He was a hard-working man and very proud to be a veteran.
Ron is survived by his children, Lisa (Matt) Hutton of Lebanon and Matt (Sarah) Livengood of Lebanon; his favorite grandson, Charles Livengood of Lebanon and sister, Sharon (Don) Lewis of Zionsville; sisters-in-law, Karen (Bill) Funkhouser of Zionsville and Patsy Livengood of Zionsville; his companion, Claire Roy of New York. He was preceded in death by his brother, Don Livengood.
Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, February 11 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. in the Strawmyer and Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Ron will be laid to rest in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Lebanon Parks Department, 130 E. Ulen Drive, Lebanon, Indiana 46052 of the American Legion Honor Guard c/o American Legion Post 1020 Hendricks Drive, Lebanon, Indiana 46052.
