It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Wayne Stewart on January 10, 2025, in Jamestown, Indiana. Born on January 21, 1946, in Lebanon, Indiana. He was the beloved son of the late Alfred Wayne and Maxine (Russell) Stewart of North Salem, Indiana. On March 27, 1970, he married Roxie Faye Burdine, who preceded him in death.
Robert graduated from North Salem High School in 1964 and served in the U.S. Army as a lineman for two and a half years. He dedicated many years as a Jamestown Volunteer Fireman. Robert retired from AT&T as a Phone Technician/Lineman after over 30 years of service. After retirement, he then worked at the Boone County Courthouse in Lebanon, Indiana. He cherished the 8 years he spent as a county employee, where he repaired and built items in the woodshop, performed general upkeep, mowed grass, and power washed.
Throughout the years, Robert also worked as an independent contractor, tackling jobs such as remodeling and repairing homes, pouring concrete, and trimming and felling trees. He was a talented craftsman who could seemingly repair or build anything.
Robert enjoyed restoring old cars, collecting and repairing old clocks, hunting and collecting Native American artifacts, playing practical jokes, and drinking coffee with friends.
Survivors include his son, Robert (Stephanie) Stewart; daughter, Robin (Chuck) Osborne; sisters, Sharon (Carl) Garland, Donna Mattingly, and Carol (Keith) Huffer; grandchildren, Aubrey and Ethan Stewart, Adam, Clara, and Andrew Meadows, and Kennedy Osborne.
Funeral services will be held at Strawmeyer & Drury, Lebanon, Indiana, on January 14, 2025. Viewing will take place from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM. Robert will be laid to rest at IOOF Cemetery, Jamestown, Indiana following the service.
