Robert “Bob” L. Trafford

Mr. Robert “Bob” L. Trafford, 87, of Linden, passed away Monday, April 7, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. He was born April 27, 1937, in Mt. Vernon, IN, a son of the late Clarence K. and Clara M. (Russell) Trafford. On December 11, 1954, Bob married his childhood neighbor, Rita R. Brantley, and they shared 70 years together.  

 

Bob attended Mt. Vernon High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army from October 1956 until October 1958. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and pipeline foreman for Countrymark Co-Op, retiring after 35 years. Bob was passionate about working and continued to work as a heavy equipment operator for Clements Excavating after retirement. He was then a custodian at North Montgomery schools. 

 

Bob enjoyed working with his hands and could often be found working on cars in his garage. He took great pride in the presentation of his properties and enjoyed tending to his yard and being outdoors. Bob also enjoyed watching country shows. His family was especially important to him and he enjoyed time spent together. He also loved his rescue dogs. Bob was a faithful member of Hope Community Church in Lebanon and attended Ingathering Church in Linden, IN.  

 

Survivors include his wife, Rita Trafford; sons, Billy Trafford, Robert W. (Donna) Trafford, Terry Trafford (Nita Dickerson), and Darryl Trafford; brother, Herman (Ruth) Turner; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. 

 

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by 7 brothers.

Family and friends will gather Monday, April 14, for visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Robert W. Trafford officiating in the Hope Community Church, 665 W. 375 N., Lebanon. Bob will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
