Richard Dean Summers

Richard Dean Summers, 80, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, at his home in Lebanon, Indiana. He was born September 17, 1945, in New Brunswick, Indiana; a son of the late Joseph Roscoe and Colletta “Lettie” (Clements) Summers.

In the 1960’s he married Ruth A. Tyler in Lebanon and later divorced.

He attended Pinnell High School. Richard worked as a mechanic for M & K Quality Trucks in Indianapolis for 30 years.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lebanon 2062 and American Legion Post 113 Lebanon. Richard enjoyed listening to George Jones and drag racing.

Survivors include his son, Jeff D. (fiancée, Katrina Updike) Summers of Lebanon; grandchildren, Mitchell Bennett and Jordan Summers; and sisters, Wilma Dickerson of Lebanon and Nancy Wethington of Cincinnati, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his son, James A. Summers and his siblings, Joseph C. Summers, Johnny W. Summers, Octavia Eileen, Mary A. Summers, Homer Harold Summers, Keith Eugene Summers, Morris Lee Summers, William Paul Summers, James Cicil Summers, Frances M. Summers, Dorothy Jean McWhirt, Mardella Summers, and Ada Marie Summers.

Funeral Services are planned for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Cremation to follow services.

Memorials may be directed in his memory to charity of donor’s choice.
