Ralph N. Gann, 96, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. He was born on May 23, 1929, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Robert O. Gann and Mable F. (LaRosh) Gann.
Ralph grew up on farms in Kentucky and the rural north side of Indianapolis before moving with foster parents George and Edith Harris to a farm near Jamestown, Indiana. He attended Jackson Township High School in Jamestown before enlisting in the U. S. Navy. Ralph served as a medical corpsman from 1948-1951, spending a short time in Korea before his honorable discharge.
During high school, Ralph was introduced to Patricia J. Ottinger, whom he married on September 14, 1951, at the Jamestown Christian Church. They spent 73 loving years together.
Ralph was a devoted family man who always emphasized the importance of education to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, telling stories and laughing with friends around the campfire, square dancing, playing euchre, and traveling. He and Pat loved exploring new places by taking multiple cruises and traveling around the country. He was a member and Elder Emeritus of Jamestown Christian Church, a member of The American Legion, and a 70-year Master Mason and member of Hazelrigg Lodge #200.
Ralph was a welder by trade and worked for Engineered Models Corporation in Indianapolis for 35 years before retiring in 1994.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, nine siblings and his beloved Boston Terrier, Missy.
Survivors include his three children, Linda (Mike) Nodley of Lebanon, Michael (Roxanne) Gann of Florida, and James (Sara) Gann of Brownsburg; grandchildren, Cary Nodley, Kris Nodley, Adrienne Schmetzer, Christian (Doris) Gann, Laura Edwards, Alicia (Ben) Weaver, and Breanna (Jeff) Pratt; great-grandchildren, Nora, Madeline, Hayden, Lilly, Eli, Brooks, Emilia, Uriah and bonus great-granddaughter, Emma; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services with Military Rites are planned for 12:00 noon on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow services at Jamestown I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
