Portion of I-65 renamed "Deputy Jacob M. Pickett Memorial Mile"

A one-mile stretch of I-65 in Boone County has been renamed to honor fallen Boone County Sheriff's Deputy Jacob M. Pickett.

Signs recognizing the renaming of the interstate between mile markers 137 and 138 were installed during a ceremony Thursday.

Deputy Pickett was a seven-year veteran of the Boone County Sheriff's Department. Prior to his service in Boone County, he served as a jailer with the Marion County Sheriff's Department and as a deputy with the Tipton County Sheriff's Department.
