Peggy Jo Vaughn

Peggy Jo Vaughn, 76, of Thorntown, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. 

Peggy was born on October 16, 1949, in Brazil, IN, to Bob and Margaret Anderson. She graduated from Thorntown High School in 1967. 

Peggy married Don Vaughn, originally from Kentucky, on July 11, 1970, and he survives. Together they built their life in Thorntown, IN.

Peggy is survived by her three children, Tracey Vaughn of Thorntown, Brian (Nancy) Vaughn of Thorntown, and Dustin (Jayma) Vaughn of Noblesville; five grandchildren, Cohen, Maddison, Macie, Warren, and Margaret, who she loved dearly; she is also survived by her two brothers, Jim (Terry) Anderson of Columbus, OH and Gary (Diana) Anderson of Clayton, IN. 

Peggy devoted over 40 years of her life to the town of Thorntown, assisting her father as the town Judge and later her husband as town Judge, as well as the Thorntown town clerk. Peggy had a passion for growing her flower beds and enjoyed trips to the casino and scratching lottery tickets. Peggy was the most loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister anyone could ask for.

Family and friends will gather Friday, May 22, for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Peggy will be laid to rest at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
