Joseph “Lynn” Grinstead

Joseph “Lynn” Grinstead, 56, of Lebanon went to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 21. He passed away at home surrounded by his family after battling pancreatic cancer. Lynn was born on August 24, 1969, in Noblesville, IN to Joseph Walter Grinstead Sr. and Phyllis “Maxine” (Jett) Grinstead. Lynn spent his childhood on the farm learning how to drive a semi at a young age and learning the value of hard work. He enjoyed many precious memories in southern Missouri with his Jett family and cousins. In young adulthood Lynn’s dad found a young lady that worked at the grain elevator whom he thought Lynn should ask out on a date. After many dates, Lynn married Julie Richardson on June 25, 1988, in Sheridan, Indiana.

Lynn was a devoted family man whose life was defined by love, hard work, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear. He spent many years behind the wheel of his semi as the owner/operator of L&J Grinstead. He traveled countless miles to provide for his family, a responsibility he carried with pride and determination. Grounded in a strong faith in God, Lynn was a respected leader at Elizaville Christian Church. He lived out his beliefs through service, kindness, and quiet strength, and set an example for others to follow. Known for his strong hands and generous heart, Lynn had the ability to fix just about anything, always ready to lend a helping hand. In his time away from work, he found joy on the water, fishing and enjoying the simple things in life. His greatest happiness, however, was time spent with his precious grandchildren, who knew him as a proud and loving “Pap.” Lynn will be remembered as a terrific father, grandfather, a faithful husband, a cherished son, and man whose legacy of love and strength will live on in all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife Julie of 37 years; parents Joseph Walter Grinstead Sr. of Kokomo and Phyllis Maxine Grinstead of Lebanon; in-laws Steve and Charlotte Richardson of Lebanon; son Joseph (Callie) Grinstead of Lebanon; daughter Ruby (Zak) Werner of Lebanon; son Sam (Missy) Grinstead of Crawfordsville; grandsons Kipton, Kasen, and Kannon of Lebanon; granddaughter Caroline of Crawfordsville; sisters Tina McMahon and Tara Ziegler; brother Patrick Grinstead; brothers-in-law Tim (Kim) Richardson, Joe Richardson, Tony (Pam) Richardson, Todd (Heather) Richardson; sisters-in-law Lori (Mark) Keppel and Kristy Grinstead. Lynn is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Lynn was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Walter Grinstead Jr. of Sheridan; niece Allison Grinstead of Sheridan; and nephew Cody Richardson of Lebanon.

Family and friends will gather Friday, March 27, 2026, for visitation from 4pm-8pm at Elizaville Christian Church, 5745 N 500 E, Lebanon. Funeral Services will be on Saturday at 10:30am with a viewing at 9:30am also at Elizaville Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Elizaville Christian Church and/or The Boone County Cancer Society.
