Joseph A. Shoemaker

Mr. Joseph A. Shoemaker, 92, of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Joseph was born December 26, 1933, in Union Township, a son of the late Clark and Virginia (Pipes) Shoemaker. He was married to Marjorie Smith in 1953, and they divorced in 1957. Joseph then married Beverly Wheeler in 1968 and they shared 57 loving years together.

Joseph graduated from Whitestown High School with the class of 1951. He had worked for Detroit Diesel Allison Division for 31 years, retiring in 1983. Joseph also took great pride in being a farmer. He was a member of the Celestial Lodge 525 and the Local 933 Union. Joseph was also a faithful member of the Zionsville Fellowship Church.

Survivors include his loving wife, Beverly Shoemaker of Lebanon; children, Tim (Sherri) Shoemaker, Andy Shoemaker, Rita Mae Moore; brother, Jerry Shoemaker; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brothers, Junior and Jean Shoemaker; and sisters, Martha Henderson, Melba Johnson, and Mildred Davis.

Family and friends will gather Friday, February 20, for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Joseph will be laid to rest at Mts. Runn Cemetery in Boone County.
