John Ray Washam, Sr.

John Ray Washam, Sr., 71, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on April 19, 1954, in Indianapolis, Indiana; a son of the late Ora Reggie and Flossie (Birge) Washam.



On December 26, 2002, he married Patricia Ann (Vann) Washam in Brown County, Indiana. She preceded him in death on June 26, 2023.



John attended Lebanon High School.



He worked as a machinist at Ransburg Corporation in Indianapolis for several years. John also held the position of tool and dye coordinator at Federal Mogul in Frankfort. Additionally, he owned a machine shop in Kirklin.



John enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and attending car shows. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and brother who will be greatly missed.



Survivors include his children, Johnny “John” (Amy) Washam, Chasity Miller, Jason (April) Washam, Jeremy (Delaina) Washam, Britany Washam, Joshua (Michelle) Collins, Layce Collins, Nolan (Heaven) Collins; grandchildren, Tristan Heise, Hailey Thompson, Lauren Collins, Haiden Walters, Kyler Collins, Everett Skelton, Caiden Collins, Cameron Collins, Bobby Washam, Brent Washam, Netanya Holtgeerts, Steven Chapa, Autumn Lehman, Jason Washam, Jr., Madison Washam, Elijah Washam, Brantley Kaufman, Nia Brothers, Autumn Miller, and Landon Washam; great grandchildren, Emma Dekoster, Tera Dekoster, David Dekoster, Elija Dekoster, Zander Volovlek, Addison Lehman, Walker Lehman, Odin Holtgeerts, Ryder Campbell, and Lincoln Hobbs; great-great grandchild, Lorelai Lehman; sister, Sallie Gordon; and several nieces and nephews.



In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by his brothers, Ferrell T. Washam, Richard D. Washam, and Ora G. Washam and sisters, Mary L. Washam, Imogene Quinn, and Virginia Pomfret.



Funeral Services are planned for 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery north of Lebanon.
