Jean Ann Mason, 74 of Zionsville, passed away Saturday, July 20th, 2025, at her home in Zionsville surrounded by her loved ones. She was born November 18th, 1950 in Williamsport, IN, a daughter of Wayne Franklin Wurtsbaugh and Margaret Bernice Tate Wurtsbaugh.
Jean graduated from Williamsport High School in 1969. Following high school, she met her husband of 42 years, Jerry Lynn Mason, and gave birth to 3 beautiful girls Sherry, Shanna, and Stephanie.
She was a teacher at Noah’s Ark Christian Child Care/Preschool, a ministry of Zionsville Presbyterian Church, for over 30 years, where she was known as “Mrs. Jean.”
She was a proud member of the Zionsville American Legion Post 79. Jean enjoyed spending her evenings at the Legion socializing, bowling, and making memories with her closest friends.
Jean and Jerry loved traveling back to Houma, Louisiana, where they resided from 1982-1987. They enjoyed attending Mardi Gras parades, and spending time with close friends they considered family there.
Jean is survived by her 3 daughters, Sherry (Mason) (Roy) Harper resident of Carmel, Shanna (Mason) (Brian) Barb resident of Zionsville, and Stephanie Mason resident of Zionsville. Jean had 8 grandchildren Andrew Harper, Lauren (Harper) McDougal, Zach Crawley, Emma Harper, Lexi Roberts, Hadley Barb, John Barb, and Denver Barb. Jean was also blessed to have 3 great grandchildren Gwenyth, Graham, and Aubrey. One of her greatest joys in life was being “Nanny” to all of her beautiful grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry Lynn Mason, brother Robert Dale Wurtsbaugh, and brother Jackie Dean Wurtsbaugh.
A celebration of life is being planned at this time, however we do not have a set date and time. We look forward to celebrating the amazing woman Jean was with you and hearing all of your great memories.
Final care of Jean has been entrusted to the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. You are invited to visit the website where you may sign her online register and leave a personal message at www.strawmyerdrury.com.
