Jacob Mark Gilbert

Jacob Mark Gilbert, known to many as Jake, left us far too soon on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the age of 37. Born on March 9, 1988, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jake was a carefree spirit who had the remarkable ability to make anyone laugh, often insisting on having the last word in any conversation, a trait that often left others smiling and shaking their head in amusement. His humor and light-heartedness will be missed by all who knew him.

Though Jake wasn’t religious, he held Christian beliefs and found his greatest joy in being a father. He is survived by his children, Austin Gilbert, Jaiden Shelton, Raylyn Schooler, and Elena Schooler who will undoubtedly carry forward his legacy of love and laughter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mark Naylor and grandfathers, Donald Naylor and Bill Gilbert.

Jake is survived by a family who loved him dearly and will forever hold him dear in their hearts. His loving mother, Sharry “Chelley” Miller; sisters, Ashley Ferrell, Heather Sinnett, and LaRissa King; and his doting grandparents, Wes and Sharry Basler.

Let us hold onto his final words, “I’m ready to go fishing with dad again.” “I will see you all soon enough again!” Though he is no longer with us, Jake’s legacy of laughter and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
