HSforBC’s Low-Cost Vaccine And Microchip Clinic

Pet owners who live in Boone County and need assistance providing vaccinations for their dogs and cats can purchase low-cost canine and feline vaccines as well as microchips during a September 22 clinic in Lebanon.

The Humane Society for Boone County’s third Mobile Low-Cost Vaccine and Microchip Clinic is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, September 22, at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds Annex, 1300 E. 100 South, in Lebanon.

HSforBC’s new “Helping Every Animal Live” (H.E.A.L.) community outreach project serves low-income pet owners and their dogs and cats with mobile clinic services made possible by Petco Love Care’s national free vaccine program.

HSforBC receives free Canine DAPPv Vaccines and Feline HCP Vaccines from Petco Love Care and reduced fee PetLink microchips from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

Dr. Amy Rader, a veterinarian and President of HSforBC’s Board of Directors, administers the one-year Rabies Vaccine for $20 per pet. HSforBC is pleased to be able to provide the Canine DAPPv Vaccine and Feline HCP Vaccine free of charge thanks to the generosity of Petco Love Care.

Microchips for dogs and cats cost $5 per pet, which includes lifetime enrollment and no annual registration fees.

Puppies and kittens must be over 6 weeks old to receive vaccinations.

Car side veterinary services for administration of vaccines and microchips are available for dogs that are reactive to other pets and if pet owners bring more than one pet or are limited by a disability.

Mobile clinics are first-come, first-serve and cash payments are required at the time of registration. Dogs must be on a leash and cats need to be secured in a pet carrier.

When pet owners register at the low-cost vaccine clinic, HSforBC volunteers ask if they need spay or neuter assistance for their pets. If they need help, regardless if for a cat or dog, their contact information is forwarded to Cat Program Lead Dawn Walker for follow-up arrangements.
