Mr. Harold W. Rose, 86 of Crawfordsville, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville. He was born February 21, 1940, in Lebanon, Indiana to the late Wayne William and Mary Ann (Young) Rose. On November 27, 1963, Harold married the love of his life, Virginia Porter from Darlington, Indiana. Together they shared more than 62 years of marriage.
After graduation from Dover High School in 1958, Harold devoted much of his life to farming and took great pride in raising Angus cattle. He was known for his calm, gentle nature and quiet strength. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing solitaire on his laptop. Above all, Harold was a man of faith and a devoted member of Dover Christian Church where he found fellowship and purpose throughout the years.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Virginia Rose of Crawfordsville; son, Stuart W. (Jennifer) Rose of Cheney, Kansas; daughter, Allisen A. (Elvin "J.R.") Bateman of Thorntown; granddaughter, KarLee Ann Bateman of Thorntown; and sisters, Mary Pauline (Larry) Kinkead of New Ross and Janet Mae Williams of Crawfordsville.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Ann Taetsch of Brownsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made in Harold's memory to Dover Christian Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Family and friends will gather Friday, July 10, 2026, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. for visitation at Dover Christian Church, 955 N. State Road 75, Lebanon, Indiana 46052. The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Harold will be laid to rest next to his parents at Dover Cemetery.
