Frankfort Police Announce 2024 Officer Of The Year

Frankfort Police Department leadership recognized K9 Officer Ethan Cunningham as the Department’s 2024 Officer of the Year with Cunningham having demonstrated outstanding achievement and performance above and beyond his normal duties in serving as an example of leadership and professionalism.

Cunningham was hired September 5, 2022, and was selected as a K9 Handler in October 2024. Cunningham leads the department in self-initiated activity. His efforts to promote community safety is a large part of why Frankfort saw a 26% decrease in crime in 2024.

"Officer Cunningham is an integral part of the FPD team," stated Chief Scott Shoemaker. "While so many of our employees work very hard, he stood out for his drive and determination."
