Former Boone Sheriff Dies In Fla.

Boone County Sheriff tony Harris shared that former Boone County Sheriff, James D. McConnaha, 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12, in Merritt Island, Florida. Sheriff McConnaha faithfully served the people of Boone County from 1962 to 1968, completing two terms in office.
During his tenure, his wife, Jan, served as the Matron. Sheriff McConnaha also established the first Reserve Deputy Program in the State of Indiana, leaving a lasting impact on law enforcement that continues to be felt today.
A joint Celebration of Life for Jim and his wife, Jan, will be held at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon on Monday, July 6, at 1:00 p.m., with graveside services to follow.
