Early Morning Fire Displaces Couple

On Sunday, April 27th, crews were dispatched to 407 E. Fordice Street, in Lebanon, on a reported structure fire. A local Pastor driving by discovered the fire overtaking a detached garage. The pastor called 9-1-1 and entered the residence to alert occupants. Boone County Communications Center dispatched emergency responders to the scene at 5:28 am. Officers from Lebanon Police Department arrived on scene and confirmed the residence was evacuated. Lebanon Fire crews arrived within minutes to find a fully involved garage fire, which had spread to the adjacent carport and residence. The fire was marked under control within 40 minutes of LFD’s arrival. No civilians or emergency responders were injured during the fire

Once the fire was deemed under control, LFD Origin and Cause Investigators assumed control of the scene. Investigators examined, photographed and documented the scene, and conducted witness interviews. Video footage from witnesses and Police officers was collected for further review. Investigators completed the initial scene examination and cleared the scene at 9:30 am. The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as they become available.

Damage estimates are not yet available, and the residents of the home were displaced as a result of the fire. The Salvation Army of Boone County is assisting the residents with temporary lodging and supplies.
