Donald “Donnie” J Lawrence Blair passed away on January 25, 2025, at the age of 54 years old.
Donnie was born in Louisville, Kentucky on August 2, 1970. He spent his childhood in both Louisville and Chicago. For most of his early life, he lived in Kankakee, Illinois, where he played football, baseball, and met his middle school sweetheart, Stacie. Looking for a safe place to start and raise a family, Donnie and Stacie moved to Lebanon, Indiana. They were married on July 22, 1995. Together, they proudly raised two children, Sabrina and Garrett.
Donnie was a die-hard Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He grew up in the streets of Chicago and was “bleacher baptized” at Wrigley Field. Donnie also enjoyed NASCAR, racing, and attending the Indy 500 sitting infield at turn 3. He enjoyed bowling, pool, golfing, swimming, and celebrating his country’s independence on the Fourth of July via the loudest and most absurd fireworks he could find. Donnie was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 103. He started his career as a concrete cutter, moving to a laborer, an operator, and finally a superintendent.
Donnie enjoyed sharing and resharing his infinite knowledge of useless facts to anyone who would listen. Did you know the pillars on the Boone County Courthouse are the eight largest one-piece limestone columns in America? These interesting stories have always been a staple to his personality. Donnie always said he was a jack of all trades and a master of none, but he was truly a master of many.
During his free time, Donnie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He loved them fiercely and was a proud “bompas.” He was an avid snacker but would only share them with a chosen few. Donnie will always be remembered as a strong, supportive, and hard-headed man.
Donnie was preceded in death by his mother and father, Connie and Mike Blair; brother, Frankie Ferrell; sister, Debbie Hammond; uncle, Larry Hammond; father-in-law, Lloyd Holdman; father-in-law, Richard Jennings (father-in-law); and brother-in-law, Darryl Jennings.
Donnie is lovingly remembered by his wife, Stacie Blair; daughter, Sabrina (Cameron) Eisele; son, Garrett (Lexie) Blair; grandson, Beau J Donald Blair; granddaughter, Blair Evelyn Eisele; mother-in-law, Judy Holdman; sisters, Donna Blanton and Tammy (Amy) Blair-Ohrt; brothers, Andy (Kelly) Williams, Randy (Stacy) Gilmore, Fred Lee (Shannon Whaley), Jim (Kim) Worrell; nieces and nephews, Connie Blanton, Deborah (Eric) Schiel, DJ (Kenzi) Todd, Cassie Delya, Jenny Munsterman (Wayne LaMontagne), Diane (Jevon) Anderson, Jasmyn Smith, Trenton Blair (Haley Smith), Trey (Stefanie) Blair, Shaun Ohrt, Shaylee Montgomery; great nieces and nephews, Brandon, Erica, Jaycee, Jayde, Jameisen, Jaiden, Jaxton, Ayla, Bry, Tatum, and Karter.
Thank you to all those he called his brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, and more. We thank you for the love and joy you all brought to his life.
Family and friends with gather Saturday, February 1, 2025, for visitation from 2:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 5:00 PM in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana 46052.
