Diana Kay Smith, 80, of Lebanon, died Monday, January 26 at her residence in Lebanon. The daughter of the late Rayburn and Inez Solomon, Diana was born in New Brunswick on June 15, 1945 and she attended Pinnell School all twelve years.
On April 10, 1965 she married Eugene Smith in the New Brunswick Church of Christ, a loving union that lasted over sixty years. Together they started a family consisting of their three children, Rodney (Lori) Smith of Mooresville, Reggie (Gretchen) Smith of Lebanon and Holly (Joe) Truitt of Lebanon. The family continued to grow with the addition of grandchildren, Amber (Ernie) Thompson, Gracie Smith, Todd (Makayla) Smith, Ashley (Kris) Knuth, Joshua (Sofia) Truitt, Noah (Gwen) Truitt and Megan Truitt. The blessings continued with the addition of great grandchildren, Madison and Ben Thompson, Asher and Hazel Smith, Karter Knuth and Lucia Truitt.
Diana enjoyed many things, especially gardening, flowers and playing music. Her children have fond memories of sitting in the front row at church watching their mother play the piano. Church was always a very big part of her life having been a member of the New Brunswick Christian Church for many years. Most recently attending Traders Pointe and Lebanon Christian Churches. She was a dedicated and devout Christian having served local churches in many different capacities, including assisting with keeping Traders Pointe clean. Her hobbies included crocheting, traveling to Gatlinburg and Branson, and ceramics having made many memorable pieces for her family. She will always be remembered for her loving and kind manner.
She is survived by her loving husband; children; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Keith and Marvin Solomon.
Family and friends will gather on Monday, February 2 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral with the Rev. David Frye officiating at 2:00 p.m. in the Strawmyer and Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Diana will be laid to rest in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the New Brunswick Church of Christ, 6480 IN 39, Lebanon, Indiana 46052.
