During Monday Night’s Lebanon City Council meeting Mayor Gentry performed the swearing in ceremony for the City of Lebanon Fire Department’s first Merit Board. The LFD Merit Board will meet and convene regarding hiring, promotions, and discipline.
The board has five members who are elected and appointed by the Mayor (2 appointed), City Council (1 appointed), and the Department (2 elected). The goal of the bipartisan board is to depoliticize, add additional layers of transparency, apply Merit Law, and further professionalize the department. When two members are elected or appointed, they must be registered as two different political parties.
Merit Board Members:
Mayor Appointees- Abigail Gentry (R) and Rob Kern (D)
City Council Appointee- Steve Day (R)
City of Lebanon Fire Department Elected- Michele Thomas (D) and Adam Klingensmith (R)
