Boone County Seeking Residents To Serve On Boards And Commissions
Boone County is inviting residents interested in public service to consider serving on county boards and commissions. Several appointments are scheduled to expire at the end of 2026, offering residents an opportunity to contribute their time, knowledge and perspective to local government.
The Boone County Commissioners appoint residents to boards and commissions that support work involving public health, planning and zoning, transportation, libraries, redevelopment and other community priorities. Appointment terms and responsibilities vary, and some positions may have specific qualifications or requirements.
The verified appointment list identifies positions with terms expiring December 31, 2026, on the following boards and commissions:
Alcoholic Beverage Board — 1 appointment
Boone County Health Board — 3 appointments
Central Indiana Regional Transportation (CIRTA) — 1 appointment
Hussey Library Board — 1 appointment
Lebanon Public Library Board — 1 appointment
Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals (PTA/BOA) — 3 appointments
Redevelopment Commission — 3 appointments
Region 5 Department of Planning Commission — 1 appointment
Region 5 Regional Workforce Board — 1 appointment
LEAP Architectural Committee — 1 appointment
3 Vacant seats on the Boone Regional Sewer District Board
The expiration of a term does not necessarily mean a position will become vacant; appointments and reappointments are subject to the applicable process and requirements.
“Local government works best when people who live here have a voice in what happens here,” said County Administrator Nick Parr. “You don’t have to be a government expert; you simply need an interest in your community and a willingness to participate.”
