After nearly three decades of helping students find their voices, Rossville High School’s Jason Newhouser has been recognized as Indiana’s Outstanding Speech and Debate Educator for 2025–2026 by the Indiana Schools’ Speech and Debate Association. The honor places Newhouser among an elite group of educators whose names will be forwarded to the National Federation of State High School Associations for consideration as one of just eight section award nominees nationwide. Starting Wednesday, October 22, the Town of Whitestown we’ll be performing maintenance on the front parking lot at the Whitestown Municipal Complex. As a result, the community recycling bin in that parking lot will reopen on October 27.

Clinton County government offices continue to move into the new annex. Today the Clinton County Veteran Services Office and Area Plan Office will move into the new County Annex Building. The Veteran Services Office (VSO) will be in Suite 102 on the first floor of the new Annex. The Area Plan office will also move into the Annex’s first floor, Suite 104. Both offices should resume regular service later this week.

A Zionsville man who served 20 years in prison for killing a Lebanon man in 2002 has been charged after he threatened an individual and his family multiple times over text. According to court documents, Christopher Showalter has been charged with four counts of intimidation, each a Level 6 felony, in Boone County. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Nov.19 and a jury trial is scheduled for Jan. 27, 2026.

Leaf Season begins this week in the city of Lebanon. The Department of Public Works  ask that you place your leaves on the parkway or in the street next to the curb away from storm drains, parked cars, signs, telephone poles or any object that will interfere with picking up the leaves. The leaf machines cannot pick up tall decorative grasses, garden plants or flowers. During leaf season Limbs will not be picked up.

The Lebanon Parks Department is excited to have Mane Event Carriages  back to host carriage rides in Memorial Park! Registration for our carriage rides will be ONLINE this year. Registration will open at 5PM on Monday, NOVEMBER 3RD!! Cost is $15.00 per ride and carriages can hold about 6 people. See the Lebanon Parks Department Facebook Page for more information.

The Indiana Interscholastic Cycling League  will hold its’ final race of the season at Stone Eater Bike Park this weekend. Saturday the trails will remain open to the public with some restrictions. Practice will run from 12-4pm with Rubber Chicken Relays 5pm. On Sunday practice runs from 7:30-8:30 with racing from 9:15-2.

Beginning Monday, October 20, Clinton County government offices will start relocating from the Courthouse to the new Clinton County Annex Building at Main and Washington Streets in downtown Frankfort. The first offices to move will be the Survey's Office and the Treasures Office. Both offices should reopen by Wednesday.

The  Rossville Consolidated School District  has received a $150,112 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to enhance school safety. The grant, awarded through the 2025 School Violence Prevention Program by the  U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services , will be used to upgrade door infrastructure in key areas of the district’s educational facilities. The project will install new security doors and intrusion-resistant locking mechanisms.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Monday evening (10/13/2025), officers with the Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department (WMPD) conducted a traffic stop on southbound I-65 near the 131-mile marker. The vehicle, a black Chevrolet sedan, was driven by Tionia Britany Miles (36), of Indianapolis, Indiana. The Indiana Department of Transportation announces an ongoing flagging operation that is impacting State Road 32 between Shannondale and Dover. Contractors have begun paving for the added passing lanes project between S.R. 75 and County Road 1175 W. near Western Boone High School. This portion of construction is anticipated to last until late-November but is weather-dependent and subject to change.

This Saturday, from 9-11am, is semi- annual park clean up at the Tom Johnson Memorial Park in Thorntown. This is a great opportunity for kids to get service hours!! Jobs will include picking up twigs and walnuts that are scattered across the park. There will be coupons for free donuts from Titus or ice cream cone from Milky Way for those who participate!
