Weekend Tournament Action

Saturday, the Western Boone Stars fell to the Tecumseh Braves in the Class 2A State Championship game played Saturday night at Bittinger Field at Purdue University. The final was 7 to 2.  Tecumseh Sophomore left fielder Kinley Hildebrand lined a bases-loaded double with two out in the first inning to give the Braves a lead it wouldn’t relinquish. Western Boone finally broke through in the sixth inning, plating their two runs on a triple by Raina Lutz. But the Stars would get no closer. Western Boone finishes the year at 22-8 Tecumseh finishes the year at 29-4. Next year Tecumseh will move up to Class 3A. Following the game Western Boone senior Dottie Wilson was announced as the recipient of the Mental Attitude Award for Class 2A Softball. The award is annually presented to a senior participant in the state finals who best demonstrates mental attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic ability and is nominated by her principal and coach.

Also on Saturday, the Zionsville Eagles baseball team fell in the first game of the Griffith Semi State to Lake Central 7 to 6 and from the Lafayette Semi State the Rossville Hornets lost their game to Kouts 9-1.
