Scam Alert

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of scammers contacting individuals and falsely claiming there is a warrant out for their arrest. The scammers are demanding money to “clear” the warrant — this is a scam. Some things to remember, the Boone County Sheriff's department will NEVER ask for money over the phone.

The Sheriff's Department will never threaten you with arrest to get payment.

Do not answer calls from unknown numbers — let them go to voicemail.

 If a voicemail sounds suspicious or threatening, do not call back. Always verify information through trusted sources.
