Robert “Bob” Allen Gottschalk

Robert “Bob” Allen Gottschalk, 78, passed away Monday, September 29, 2025, at The Restoracy of Whitestown. He was born October 23, 1946, in Libertyville, Illinois, a son of the late Elmer L. and Loraine M. (Dickson) Gottschalk.

He was first married to Candice (Brown) Gottschalk and later divorced. On November 14, 1981, he married Sandra (Wright) Gottschalk in Lake Zurich, Illinois; she survives.

Bob graduated from Mundelein High School in Mundelein, Illinois in 1964. After graduation, he honorably served in the United States Army. He worked in a factory for a short time and later as a city police officer in Lake Zurich. Bob went on to spend 35 years as a truck driver in many capacities, finishing his career by hauling equipment for entertainment shows.

Bob was a member of New Hope Christian Church for many years; however, he was currently attending Elizaville Christian Church. Bob had a lifelong passion for model trains, beginning at the age of five when he received his first Lionel O Gauge set. He continued to build and expand on that passion for the next 73 years. In retirement, he discovered outdoor G Gauge trains, which became a favorite project until his passing. Bob never met a dog he didn’t love. After losing his faithful companion of 17 years, he found comfort in dog sitting for others, which helped fill the void in his heart.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Gottschalk; children, Thomas Gottschalk of Zionsville, Jaclyn Gottschalk of Noblesville, and Jason Gottschalk of Lebanon; and four grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by four brothers.

Visitation is planned from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025, at New Hope Christian Church, 5780 South Main Street, in Whitestown, Indiana. Funeral Services with military rites will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7th, at the church with additional visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown. Myers Mortuary has been entrusted with his arrangements.
