Richard E. “Fritz” Frietzsche, 76, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Compassus in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born in Indianapolis on April 13, 1948, a son of the late John and Louise (Scherrier) Frietzsche.
On March 9, 1973, he married Linda (Fields) Frietzsche in Indianapolis; she survives.
Rick received his associates degree in refrigeration from Ivy Tech. He honorably served in the US Navy from 1967 to 1971 on the USS American Aircraft Carrier CVA 66 as a petty officer second class machinist mate.
Rick was a refrigeration mechanic for Dow Chemical for 31 years, retiring in 2002. He has also worked at the Lebanon School Corporation and Carrier Refrigeration.
Rick was a member of the American Legion, Allison’s Straight Pool, Indiana Classic Pool, Lebanon Billiard, APA, and Valley Pool Leagues.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Frietzsche; children, Bill (Lindsy) Frietzsche of Indianapolis and Tammie (Charlie) Parks of Jonesville, Virginia; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Yvonne Frietzsche of Indianapolis; and brother, Randall (Michele) Frietzsche of Colorado.
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his son, Erick Burk Frietzsche; sister, Sherrie Wallace; and brother, Don Frietzsche.
Funeral Services with Military Rites are planned for 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services. Cremation will follow services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
