Patsy Lou Staton

Patsy Lou Staton, 93, passed away on July 8, 2025, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Indiana. She was born in Lebanon on June 2, 1932, a daughter of the late James and Mary Opal (Shockley) Glendenning.



She was united in marriage to Richard Lee Staton on September 1, 1950, in Lebanon. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2011.



A life resident of Boone County, Patsy was a 1950 graduate of Lebanon High School. She resided 50+ years in Whitestown where she worked at Cochran’s Restaurant and the 421 Restaurant for a period of time. After attaining her certification in nutrition from Purdue University, she then was employed as the food service manager at the Perry Worth Elementary cafeteria from 1970–1992 when she retired.



Pasty was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Whitestown where she belonged to the women’s club. In addition, she held memberships with Senior Citizens Inc. Lebanon and was a former member of the Boone County Antique Tractor Club.



In her early years, she and Richard were avid campers and could be found at Raccoon State Park and Richard Lieber State Park with several other Boone County families. Patsy was a collector of Shirley Temple and Wizard of Oz memorabilia. She enjoyed playing cards with the Monday Night Euchre Club and Crazy Eight Euchre Club. Patsy won the Boone County Senior Services Olympics Euchre tournament three times! In addition, she enjoyed working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing Bingo, Dominos, and other games. She especially loved hosting her daughters, sons-in-law, and nieces and nephews to play games such as Dominos and 12 Cent Rum. Above all, Patsy loved her family and her many friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.



Survivors include her three daughters, Vickie S. (Michael) Smith of Lebanon, Rebecca A. “Becky” (Gary) Ottinger of Whitestown, and Tonya K. Staton of Lebanon; three grandsons: Michael J. (Karen) Smith of Lebanon, Christopher L. (Colton Chaney) Smith of Sacramento, California, and Matthew L. (Katie) Ottinger of Greenfield; and great grandchildren, Izak Smith, Riley Smith, and Mar’Qwon Starks.



In addition to her parents and her husband, Patsy was preceded in death by her siblings, Jim Glendenning, Bob Glendenning, and Letha May Cox.



Funeral Services are planned for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 14, at the funeral home. Interment will follow services at Mts. Runn Cemetery, rural Zionsville.
