Biles Leads U.S. To Gymnastics Team Gold (Paris) -- Simone Biles and Team USA women's gymnastics are back on the top spot of the podium. Biles and the U.S. won the gold medal in the women's team competition on Tuesday at the Paris Olympics. This is the fourth gold medal for the U.S. women, with the other three coming in 1996, 2012 and 2016. The Americans bounced back after settling for silver at the 2020 Tokyo Games. For Biles, it's her U.S.-record breaking eighth career medal overall including her fifth gold. Up next is the women's all-around individual event finals on Thursday. The men's all-around finals are set for Wednesday. >>Team USA Men's Hoops To Face South Sudan In Group Stage (Lille, France) -- The United States' men's basketball team will be back on the hardwood for more Olympic action today. The Americans are set to face South Sudan for the top spot in Group C through two games. The two countries have never played each other in the Olympics. Team USA defeated South Sudan 101-100 in a thrilling pre-Olympic exhibition game in Abu Dhabi earlier this month. The U.S. opened the Paris Olympics with a dominant 110-84 takedown of Serbia. Kevin Durant led the charge with 23 points. >>U.S. Nabs Four Swimming Medals On Tuesday (Paris) -- The U.S. had another successful day in the pool at the Paris Olympics. The Stars and Stripes earned four medals in three swimming finals yesterday. Robert Finke secured silver in the men's 800-meter freestyle. Regan Smith and Katharine Berkoff placed second and third in the women's 100-meter backstroke. Team USA also bagged silver in the men's 200-meter freestyle relay and missed out on gold by one second. Five more medal events are scheduled for today. >>U.S. Women's Rugby Win Bronze Medal (Paris) -- The U.S. women's rugby team is making history at the Paris Olympics. The team defeated Australia 14-12 in the bronze medal match to win their first Olympic medal ever. U.S. rugby player Ilona Maher says this win is for her family. The last time the U.S. won a medal in rugby was when the men's team took home the gold at the 1924 Summer Games. Those games were also held in Paris. >>U.S. Men's Soccer Shuts Out Guinea In Group Play Finale (Paris, France) -- The U.S. men's national soccer team closed out group play with a 3-0 win over Guinea. Kevin Paredes led the way for the Americans after scoring a pair of goals. Djordje Mihailovic also found the back of the goal for the stars and stripes. Patrick Schulte managed to stop both of the shots he faced on goal to preserve the clean sheet for Team USA. The USMNT finished second in Group A with six points after going 2-0-and-1, and is joining host nation France in the quarterfinals, which begin tomorrow.
