Milner, Indiana Basketball Hall-Of-Famer Passes

   Gene Milner 80 of Greencastle a member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and a four-year letterman for the Rossville Hornets basketball team under Hall of Fame coach Phil Buck has passed away. Gene established himself as one of the state’s premier scorers. He held the Rossville career scoring record for 25 years with 1,641 points, highlighted by eight games of 40 or more points. As a senior, he led the state in scoring and earned All-Conference, All-Sectional, All-County, and All-State honors. He went on to play for Hall of Fame coach Tony Hinkle at Butler and was selected for the 1967 Indiana College All-Star team to face Adolph Rupp’s Kentucky squad. Following his playing career, Gene coached at Clinton Central, Lafayette Harrison, and Rensselaer Central. A member of the 1988 Silver Anniversary Team, Gene was elected to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007. A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at later date. Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home have been entrusted with the arrangements.
