Mauriece (John) Leon Johnson passed away August 25, 2025, at the age of 93 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 14, 1932, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Lawrence and Freda Johnson.
Sadly, his mother passed when he was only five and his paternal grandmother, Bessie Schroeder, stepped in to help raise him and his brother. The family later moved to Whitestown, Indiana, where he graduated with the class of 1950. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force and served his country as a staff sergeant. After four years active and four years inactive duty he was honorably discharged.
In October 1957 he began his career with United Parcel Service as a Delivery Driver working his way up to management as Head of Loss Prevention for the state of Indiana. He retired after 33 years of service.
Mauriece was known for his strong will and determination. He rarely asked for help, always insisting to do it himself. His legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
