Lebanon Police Officers Recognized As Traffic Safety All-Stars

The Lebanon Police Department is proud to announce that Officers Briana Deckard and Kaleb McCloskey have been recognized by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) as Traffic Safety All-Stars for their continued efforts to combat impaired driving and improve roadway safety.

Officers Deckard and McCloskey were among multiple Indiana law enforcement officers honored during a ceremony held September 25th at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis.

Established in 2020, the ICJI Traffic Safety All-Star Awards program recognizes law enforcement officers who go above and beyond to protect motorists and their communities through proactive impaired-driving enforcement. The awards highlight the dedication of officers working to prevent impaired driving and reduce the dangers it poses to everyone on Indiana’s roadways.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, approximately 37 people in the United States die in drunk-driving crashes each day — an average of one person every 39 minutes. These preventable tragedies underscore the importance of continued enforcement and public safety initiatives.

To qualify for the Traffic Safety All-Star Award, officers must demonstrate significant accomplishments in Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) enforcement and participate in at least one of the state’s enhanced enforcement campaigns during the previous year. Law enforcement agencies throughout Boone County participate in these campaigns as members of the Boone County Traffic Safety Partnership.

Officers Deckard and McCloskey joined the Lebanon Police Department in 2023 and quickly demonstrated a strong commitment to impaired-driving enforcement. Since joining LPD, both officers have consistently led the department in OWI-related enforcement efforts. Their dedication is further demonstrated by their certifications as Certified Breath Test Operators. Officer Deckard is also a Standardized Field Sobriety Test Instructor.

Their recognition reflects not only their individual efforts but also the Lebanon Police Department’s ongoing commitment to identifying impaired drivers, preventing alcohol-related crashes, and keeping Lebanon’s roadways safe.
