James “Jim” Kent Owens

James “Jim” Kent Owens, 85, passed away at his home in Lebanon, Indiana on August 5, 2025. He was born in Lebanon on August 2, 1940; a son of the late Foster “Diz” Owens and Wynonna (Walton) Owens Stokes.

On September 30, 1960, he married Sheralynn (Dale) Owens in Dover, Indiana; she survives.

A lifelong resident of Boone County, James attended Lebanon High School. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After his service, Jim worked for 28 years as a pipe fitter and supervisor at Rock Island.

He was a life member of VFW Post 910, Fraternal Order of Eagles Lebanon 2062, and Elks Lodge #635. He enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, and watching NASCAR. Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife, Sheralynn Owens of Lebanon; sons, James “Jim” K. (Angela) Owens II of Lebanon and Dale F. (Michelle) Owens of Syracuse; grandchildren, Amanda L. (Joe) Huss, Carlie M. (Stephen) Mcknight, James K. Owens III, and Katelynn M. (Dean) Brandt; five great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Madison Marie Veach; three brothers, Jacki Owens, Alan Owens, and Francis “K” Owens; two sisters, Karen Susie Weber and Patty Lois Iacobelli.

Private Family Graveside Services will be held. Myers Mortuary in Lebanon has been entrusted with his arrangements.
