Driver Arrested After Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash In Clinton County

On September 20, 2026, at approximately 5:22 a.m., Clinton County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 4500 North block of State Road 29 following an automated crash detection alert. Multiple 911 callers also reported a two-vehicle head-on collision.

Upon arrival, deputies located two vehicles with significant damage. A preliminary investigation indicates that a blue Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Quinton Landrum, 28, of Kokomo, was traveling southbound on State Road 29 when it crossed the center line and collided with a blue Toyota Prius traveling northbound. The Prius was driven by Virgil Richardson, 76, of Michigantown.

Richardson was pronounced deceased at the scene. His passenger, Tina Richardson, 64, was transported to an Indianapolis hospital in stable condition. Landrum was also transported to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment. An operating-while-intoxicated investigation was initiated.

Following his release from the hospital, Landrum was arrested and faces preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated resulting in death, a Level 4 felony, and reckless homicide, a Level 5 felony.

The crash remains under investigation by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.
