Douglas Wayne Collins

Douglas Wayne Collins, 66, of Chicago, died May 30 at his residence. Doug was born April 7, 1960 in Kokomo, Indiana, the son of the late Larry Collins and Mary Ann (Oren) Collins Mendenhall. He graduated from Western Boone High School, Indiana Central University, and earned a Master’s degree in Opera from Roosevelt University.

Doug worked as a document specialist with the Winston & Strawn Law Offices. Doug was an accomplished vocalist having performed in Carnegie Hall, enjoyed traveling, belonged to several men’s choirs and socializing with his wide circle of friends.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Ann (Thomas) Mendehall of Lebanon; brother, Christopher (Aimee) Collins of Thorntown, his niece, Katherine (Alexxis) Collins, and nephews, Zachary Collins, Nicholas Collins, and Jacob Collins. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Collins in 2005.

Family and friends will gather at a later date at the Dover Christian Church for a celebration of Doug’s life.
