David L. “Dave” Martin, Sr., 75, passed away surrounded by his beloved family on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in Crawfordsville, Indiana. He was born on January 15, 1950 in Lebanon, a son of the late Lora B. and Marjorie (Davidson) Martin.
On October 28, 1967, he married the love of his life, Judy Arlene (McClaine) Martin in Lebanon. She preceded him in death on October 7, 2009, just short of their 42nd anniversary.
Dave and his wife spent the majority their lives in Thorntown, where they raised their children. During those years, he owned and operated Martin’s Salvage Yard until 2001. That same year, they relocated to Colfax and became the co-owner of Broadview Campground, a place where his grandchildren spent many summers. In 2022, he retired from McGinley Fire Apparatus, where he worked as a professional painter by trade.
He enjoyed every season and loved being outdoors, especially when it meant attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren events. Dave was always ready with a joke or a playful comment, brightening the day for everyone around him. He proudly led the singing at every birthday party and never let a year pass without insisting on a cake, no matter the age. Above all, Dave’s greatest joy was his family. They were the center of his world and forever closest to his heart.
Survivors include his three children, Davey (Diane) Martin of Colfax, Troy (Michelle) Martin of Thorntown, Tracey (Jerry) Tuck of Crawfordsville; eleven grandchildren, Tyler Martin, Brittney Clark, Austin Martin, Alexa Martin, Zach Martin, Garrett Alexander, Courtney Alexander, Jeremy Tuck, Elizabeth Tuck, Blake Beltran, and Vanessa Sawyer; eight great grandchildren, Maddox Alexander, Noa Martin, Ellie Martin, Liam Clark, Jax Beltran, Kaden Beltran, Forrest Beltran, and Miles Sawyer; two brothers, Steve Martin, Larry Joe (Diane) Martin; and three sisters, Kim (Mark) Davis, Karen Martin, and Kathy (Jerry) Perdue.
In addition to his parents and wife, Dave was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kayla Janel Martin; four brothers, Kevin Martin, Bob Martin, Fred Martin, and Roger Martin; and two sisters, Shirley Hankins and Patricia "Pat" Dean.
Funeral Services are planned for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow services at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown, Indiana.
Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
