Darrell Wayne Curtis, lifelong resident of Lebanon, Indiana, passed away on September 8, 2025.
Darrell was well-known throughout Boone County and beyond for his unmatched craftsmanship in drywall. Alongside his late father, L.C. Curtis, he proudly owned and operated Curtis Drywall for more than 50 years. His dedication to his trade and his remarkable skill earned him the title many knew him by: the “King of Drywall.” Those who had the privilege of working with Darrell for their drywall needs knew they were receiving the very best.
Darrell will be remembered not only for his hard work, but also for his incredibly caring nature. He was someone you could always count on in times of need, and his presence was a steady source of support for family and friends alike.
He is survived by his daughter, Katelyn (Will) Duke; sisters, Donna (Richard) Sherman-Lowe and Debborah Quebe; brothers, Stephen (Judy) Sherman and Richie Curtis; nieces and nephews; and significant other, Diana Scott who loved him dearly.
Darrell was preceded in death by his father, L.C. Curtis, and his mother, Georgia “Ruthie” Curtis as well as his brother-in-law Tim Quebe and nephew John Sherman.
Darrell’s life was one of incredible dedication, generosity, and love for his family. His legacy will live on in the walls he built and the lives he touched. He will be greatly missed.
Private graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. Final care of Darrell has been entrusted to the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
