Cynthia Watson

Cynthia Watson, 70, of Lebanon, died Thursday, August 7, 2025 at her residence in Lebanon.  She was the daughter of the late James and Ruthalice (Hood) Watson, born September 13, 1954 in Marion Indiana.  After graduation from Mississinewa High School in Gas City, Indiana she graduated from Anderson University with a Bachelor’s of Arts and Ball State University with a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education.

 

Ms. Watson began her teaching career in 1987 at Perry Worth School where she taught for two years and then moved to Central Elementary School until her retirement in 2013. As a nature and science lover at heart, Ms. Watson was passionate about teaching students, she was instrumental in creating the outdoor education lab at Central Elementary. Ms. Watson worked hard to bring the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to Boone County, as an avid reader she believed in the importance of teaching children how to read. After her retirement she volunteered at Central Elementary by teaching STEM to fourth and fifth graders. She loved traveling, reading, art, theater and spending time with her friends and family.

 

Survivors include her brothers, Charles (Linda) Watson of Paoli, Indiana, Clayton (Mary Lou) Watson of Wabash, Indiana; uncle Jack (Wanda) Hood; aunt Jane Gottwald; nieces and nephews, Grace (Thomas) Marshall, Isaac (Carrie) Watson and Laura (Patrick) Watson-Lindley; great nieces and nephews, Elias Watson, Emilia Marshall, Orion Watson, Charlotte Watson and Chistopher Lindley.

 

Family and friends will gather on September 13 for a celebration of her life from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Boone County Senior Citizens, 515 Crown Pointe Drive, Lebanon. You are invited to visit the website www.strawmyerdrury.com where you may leave a personal message.
