County Council Calls For Sheriff And Wife To resign

The Clinton County Council is calling for Sheriff Rich Kelly and his wife, jail matron Ashley Kelly, to resign from their positions in light of criminal charges. The Kellys were in a Marion County court Tuesday to hear charges of fraud, theft and official misconduct. The charges stem from the Kellys’ allegedly defrauding the Indiana State Police Disability Pension Board.The Clinton County Council unanimously called for the couple’s resignations the same day. In addition to the council’s call for the couple’s resignations, they are also requesting that financial management of the sheriff’s office be transferred over to the auditor, as the Kellys’ criminal charges are pending.
