Clara Ruth Starcher

Clara Ruth Starcher, 66, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at her home in Lebanon, Indiana. She was born on July 31, 1959, in Indianapolis, a daughter of the late Marshall J. and Wilburdean H. “Dean” Sheets.

On April 30, 1977, she married James E. Starcher, Sr., in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2009.

Ruth was a dedicated homemaker whose greatest joy was caring for her family. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, and they adored their nana. Ruth will be deeply missed by all.

Survivors include her six children, Gordon (Kelly) Adams of Indianapolis, Jamie (Jerome) Pettigrew of Lafayette, Dora (Mathew) Coombs of Lutz, Florida, James (Kaitlyn) Starcher, Jr. of Indianapolis, Brandi (Jonathon) Plymate of Anderson, and William Starcher of Columbus; 34 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; five siblings, Harvey A. (Elizabeth) Sheets of Lebanon, Lary L. Sheets of Lebanon, James D. (Betty) Sheets of Jamestown, Brian Scott Sheets of Thorntown, and Anthony D. (Le) Sheets of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her sister, Marcia K. Coulter and sister-in-law, Heidi Sheets.

Funeral Services is planned for 12:00 noon on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow services at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
