Boone Sheriff Reports Scam

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of scam emails being sent to citizens that appear to come from a Boone County Deputy or other county personnel. These emails often ask you to click a link or open a document for review.

 Do NOT click the link.

 Do NOT open any attachments.

 Do NOT enter personal or financial information.

These messages are fraudulent and are not sent by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office or Boone County Government.

If you receive a suspicious email:

• Delete it immediately

• Do not reply

• Report it to your email provider

If you believe you may have clicked a link or provided information, take steps to secure your accounts and monitor for suspicious activity.
