Boone Power To Sponsor Students For Washington, D.C. Trip

Boone Power will sponsor local students for the 2026 Indiana Youth Tour to Washington, D.C., June 14-21. Current high school juniors are eligible to apply for the weeklong trip. Together, electric cooperatives across Indiana will send a delegation of students to convene with other students from across the country.

"Boone Power is proud to sponsor this trip for local youth," said Mandy Saucerman, Director of Communications. "This experience offers a unique opportunity for students to learn more about government, leadership, and community engagement, as well as the cooperative business model that brought electricity to rural America. Participants gain valuable insights into how they can contribute to their own communities and make a positive impact."

Youth Tour participants visit the Flight 93 Memorial, Gettysburg Battlefield, Arlington National Cemetery, and Smithsonian museums. The students also tour the Jefferson, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Franklin D. Roosevelt memorials, and much more.

The Indiana Youth Tour students participate in an event hosted by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association and spend a day on Capitol Hill, where they will have an opportunity to meet with Indiana’s congressional delegation to ask questions and share their thoughts on timely issues.

To learn more or apply, visit IndianaYouthTour.org. The application closes Feb. 13.
