Transition Underway For Frankfort Parks Department

On Tuesday, the City of Frankfort the resignation of Frankfort Parks Director Joel Tatum. Tatum’s resignation is effective January 21, 2025. The City expressed its gratitude for Mr. Tatum’s contributions to the Parks Department during his tenure and wish him the best on his next endeavors.

To ensure continued park operations, Police Chief Scott Shoemaker and Park Supervisor Christie Martin will assume temporary oversight responsibilities until an Interim Park Superintendent is named.

“I appreciate Chief Shoemaker for stepping up to help the Parks maintain operations over the next several days,” said Mayor Judy Sheets. “I am confident in both Christie and Chief Shoemaker to continue the daily operations until the Board of Public Works and I discuss the future of the Frankfort Parks Department later this week.”
