Lion’s Park Joins Thorntown Parks System

The Town of Thorntown is proud to announce that Lion’s Park and its beloved shelter house are now officially part of the Thorntown Parks System. Previously managed by the Thorntown Lions Club, the park was generously donated to the town following the club’s closure in December 2024 due to declining membership. The park will now be managed by Thorntown Parks and Recreation, ensuring its continued legacy as a cherished community space. Situated along the scenic Big 4 Trail, Lion’s Park offers a rich history and bright future for Thorntown and Boone County. The park’s north end is home to a large BBQ pit, which will be overseen by the Knights of Pythias starting in summer 2025. Additionally, Lion’s Park will serve as the new venue for the popular Holiday on Main event, which includes the annual Angel Tree project.
