LFD Performs Technical Rescue At LMS

  At approximately 9:19 AM on April 10th Lebanon Fire Department Engine 212 was dispatched with Boone County EMS on report of a fall at 1800 N Grant St. (Lebanon Middle School). Upon arrival crews were directed to a construction entrance and were unable to make contact with a site representative to be directed to the patient. Lebanon Police officers on scene found site personnel who advised the patient was on the roof of the structure. Engine 212 repositioned to an accessible portion of the buildings and additional apparatus was requested due to the possibility of a technical rescue situation. Ladder 213, Battalion 201, and Lebanon Fire Department administration responded to the scene. Engine 212 personnel accessed the roof and were taken to a patient who was alert and oriented with chief complaints of low back pain and arm pain due to a fall from a ladder. The call was upgraded to a technical rescue. Boone County EMS provided care to the patient while on the roof and Lebanon Fire personnel assisted preparing the patient for safe removal from the roof. Crews performed a high-angle rope rescue of the patient using a litter, Ladder 213, and rope rescue equipment.

The patient was escorted off of the roof and lowered to the ground by Lebanon Fire personnel without incident. Boone County EMS then transported the patient to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Crews then cleared the scene.

 The middle school was in normal operation throughout the course of the incident and students remained in class without interruption.
